DEI Learning is ongoing and very rewarding!
Welcome to today’s live reel! I’m diving into a fascinating conversation from my recent DEI course, where we explored how language around diversity is constantly evolving. My instructor, Daya Khan, raised an interesting distinction between two commonly used terms: marginalized and underserved. While both highlight challenges faced by certain groups, they carry different nuances. Marginalized frames an experience shaped by external perspectives, while underserved focuses more on limited access to resources and opportunities. As I continue updating my glossary for an upcoming book, this conversation got me thinking—what do these terms mean to you? Let’s talk!
