Kathleen Johnson, B.A

Kathleen Johnson is an author, artist, coach, educator, and speaker based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada who published Thinking Outside the Boardroom: Creative Solutions in DEI and Anti-racism in January 2025 where she talks about helping organizations creatively engage and problem solve on social justice issues.
She is an award-winning DEI professional with her own firm Kreativ Culture Strategies, is Senior Advisor of Diversity Equity and Inclusion with Provincial Health Services Authority and formerly served as a Ministerial Advisor in the BC Provincial Legislature. In 2021 she ran for federal office in her hometown of Calgary, Alberta.
Kathleen has a BA in Sociology and Cultural Anthropology from Carleton University, DEI certificate from Cornell University, DISM (Diversity Inclusion Service Management) certification, coaching certificates from Certified Coaches Federation and Values Inspired Coaching, and a diploma from CMU College of Makeup Art and Design.
As a makeup artist she has worked on such productions as Suicide Squad and on celebrities like Ben Affleck. She still contributes to film projects periodically and most recently entered stand up comedy sharing the stage with some of the nation’s top talent.
Kathleen is an instructor for Simon Fraser University’s Equity in Healthcare program, is one of Canada’s Top 100 Black Women to Watch for 2025, an executive contributor for Brainz Magazine, and host of the podcast The Kreactivators.
She is a cancer survivor and navigated poverty as a single parent to her 5 children with special needs. Her Caribbean immigrant parents instilled the value of education, a passion for building community, and fostered her talents.
